About This Piece
This ceramic vessel by Dimitria Barrows reinterprets the Genesis narrative through crypto ideology, transforming the Garden of Eden's temptation into a contemporary memento mori shaped from clay—as Adam himself was formed. The handmade vase depicts Adam and Eve reaching for the forbidden fruit beneath the Tree of Knowledge, with Pepe as the sly serpent between them. On the reverse, a Baroque-style inscription reads, "Don't Trust, Verify," linking the biblical theme of deception to the logic of blockchain. What once adorned sacred interiors becomes a reflection on trust in an age of immutable ledgers, collapsing scripture and crypto into a shared story of temptation and doubt.
